Visions and Missions

1.       Establishment, completion and development of buildings, facilities, port repair shops, marine service station and other related equipment.

2.       Preparing and enforcement of port and maritime regulations and commercial shipping in accordance with applicable laws.

3.       Regulation of matters related to the maneuvering ships in port with the approval of the Supreme Council of the Organization.

4.       Loading and unloading affairs management of goods at ports and warehouses in the ports of the country (in the area where the organization has an office or branch).

5.       Telecommunication networks (radio, telegraphy, telephony, teletype, etc.) Management at sea and shore for contact with the ships and the affiliated ports and supplying the equipments in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications.

6.       The coastal and commercial shipping continuous monitoring, effort for their development, securing the ship movements and any action is required in the commercial and coastal shipping activities developments.

7.       Equipping and management of marine and river lighting signs and equipments to ensure the safety of ships and vessels.

8.       Commercial ships and pleasure boats registration -except military vessels- having the nationality of the country and the implementation of the relevant regulations.

9.       The granting of technical, maritime, etc. competency to seamen in accordance with the relevant regulations.

10.   Receiving of river and port taxes and charges for the discharge and loading, storage and other revenues collected by the organization or other government agencies in accordance with the relevant regulations.

11.   Enforcement the Sea Law of Iran and the fulfillment of the duties specified in the law concerning of the establishment permission of the Ports and Maritime Organization and other relevant codes.

12.   Determine and signification the regulations about how to operate and utility of the equipment of the port facilities and properties consisting of movable and fixed supplies and equipment belongs to the organization and implementation after the approval of the High Council.

13.   Research and study on port and maritime and commercial navigation issues.

14.   Planning of the next year's program, as well as long-term plans provision and implementation after the Organization’s High Council approval.

15.   Offering the ports and commercial maritime international agreements and contracts to the related organizations and authorities after necessary reforms and reviews.

16.   Membership in international organizations related to ports and marinas with the approval of the Supreme Council of the Organization and approval of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

17.   Participation in international conferences and congresses related to ports and shipping.

18.   Determine the free zone, if necessary, and prepare the terms and conditions for using it with the Supreme Council of the Organization agreement and by the Islamic Consultative Assembly approval.

19.   Managing and operation of railway lines from the inlet point to the last outlet in the port, as well as having wagons, loco-diesels and their belongings, and other essential equipment for the discharge and loading and carriage to the sheds, warehouses and yards.

20.   Establishment of pilot training school or institute for merchant seafarers and deploying students to study in specialized fields overseas according to the needs of the organization.

21.   Issue permission to establish a quay and other facilities and equipment while approving the plan for the right to supervise the execution and operation.

22.   The issuance of a permit for the establishment of an office, seamen club, restaurant and warehouse, and other facilities necessary to apply for qualified applicants, the organization may lease land for these facilities on the basis of their facilities in the affiliated ports.

23.   Transfer of that part of the service of the organization, which is performed by the private sector in a cost-effective manner, to qualified private bodies.

24.   Attempts to lower the costs for the delivery of goods to the ports of Iran by equipping the ports and expediting the discharge and loading and eliminating the waiting time for ships to help the country's economy.
